Nestled in the upmarket Wada district of Tokyo’s Suginami Ward, Renkoji Temple stands as a constant reminder of Indo Japanese relation in the post Second World War era as the most striking feature of this quiet temple environs is a bust of a bespectacled man who is none other than Subhash Chandra Bose–one of the greatest nationalist leaders of modern India. It is a Buddhist temple built in 1594, inspired by the God of Wealth and Happiness and belonging to theNichiren sect of Buddhism that traces the root of human salvation in Lotus Sutra.
