2017 marked the 125th year of the publication of Rabindranath Tagore’s celebrated short story ‘Kabuliwala’ originally composed in 1892 that narrates the poignant tale of friendship of Rahmat, an Afghan fruit vendor from Kabul, and Mini, the five year old daughter of an urban educated Bengali Brahmin litterateur father. To commemorate, a photo exhibition on the Afghans of Calcutta was held in Delhi and Lahore.
