Debarati Ganguly
Debarati Ganguly is an undergraduate student of Economics at Basanti Devi College affiliated to Calcutta University. Her interest lies in Economics and Politics and how the society is shaped by these forces.She is also interested in Marxist Theory and discourse of Gender oppression. In future she wants to pursue research in Marxist Economics and would love to teach university students. She is also a very talented dancer in Kathak. In her free time she likes to debate on gender issues and listens to music. Social work is an important part of her life.
Somya Kumari
Somya Kumari is a first year B.A. LL.B. (Hons.) student at the West Bengal National University of Juridical Sciences (NUJS), Kolkata. She gradually found her passion in History, Indian Politics, Sociology, International affairs and Constitutional Law. And her major field of interest are especially Environmental Law and Human Rights. She is an active member of The Society for the Protection and Promotion of Environment (SPPE) and the Nature committee at NUJS. She is very friendly, ambitious and creative person, and welcome challenges as she try to come with new ideas. She aspires to become an International Humanitarian Worker, and directly involved in Public Health, Disaster relief, Refugee protection, Project Management, Finance, Rule of Law and Governance, Food Safety and Nutrition. She wants to bring attention for those people who have suffered from injustices, persecution, torture and civil rights violations in their respective countries. She plans to focus her work on international human rights issues and write expressly on such cases to protect the legal rights of marginalized groups and individuals, such as national minorities, women, refugees and indigenous groups. She volunteered in the National Legal Services Authority (NALSA) to learn new skills and give opportunity to help the environment and help others less fortunate or without a voice. She has been honored with Outstanding Performance in the field of Philanthropy, commended on the exceptional zeal and sincere empathy in the project “LE BENEVOLAT”. She made several projects with Indian Justice Foundation and took part in various events which include TAKSHILA PARIVARTAN: Rural Immersion Program, Village Working Groups, Retrospection session, soaking in rural life and realities, interacting with eminent social visionaries, and attending folk cum classical performing arts concerts. She also has a keen interest in painting and won first prize in Orion Green Drawing Competition. Her poster has been published twice in TES Orbit Magazine. In her free time, she loves to write blog and read historical books and biographies, and play badminton.
Sukanya Bhattacharya
"Sukanya Bhattacharya is an Undergraduate student of Political Science at Presidency University, currently in her third year. She is interested in the fields of Subaltern Studies and Post-Colonial studies, particularly in reference to South Asian politics and society. She aspires to work on gender equality, youth as well as tribal development in the South Asian subcontinent. She is also an avid quizzer and debater, having participated in a number of competitions throughout the city as well as organizing events."
